Who We Are

Furniture360 is a South African furniture retailer operating at furniture360.co.za. We sell furniture directly to customers across South Africa — online and in-store — and we take the privacy of everyone who shops with us seriously.

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website or place an order, how we use it, and what your rights are under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

If you have any questions before reading further, you are welcome to contact us directly at info@furniture360.co.za.

What We Collect

We only collect information that is relevant to processing your order, improving your experience on our site, or communicating with you. Here is what that includes:

When you place an order

  • Your name and surname
  • Billing and delivery address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Payment information — this is processed securely through our payment gateway and we do not store your full card details on our servers

When you browse our site

  • IP address and browser type (collected automatically by our hosting provider)
  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • The device and operating system you are using
  • Referring URL (where you came from before landing on our site)

When you contact us

  • Your name and contact details
  • The content of your message or enquiry
  • WhatsApp messages sent to our business number

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18. If you are under 18, please have a parent or guardian make purchases on your behalf.

How We Use It

Your information is used for specific, legitimate purposes. We do not sell your data to third parties or use it in ways you would not reasonably expect from a furniture store.

Order fulfilment

This is the primary reason we collect your details. We need your name, address, and contact number to process your order, arrange delivery, and keep you updated on its progress.

Customer communication

We will contact you by email, phone, or WhatsApp regarding your order, any queries you have raised, or updates that directly affect your purchase. We will not flood your inbox.

Improving our website

Browsing data helps us understand which products people are interested in, where navigation is confusing, and how to make the shopping experience better overall.

Marketing (only with your consent)

If you opt in to receive marketing from us — either at checkout or by subscribing to our newsletter — we may send you updates about new arrivals, promotions, or seasonal collections. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.

Legal and compliance obligations

In certain circumstances we may need to retain or share your information to comply with a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, or enforce our agreements.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary to run our business:

  • Delivery partners — your name, address, and phone number are passed to the courier or logistics provider handling your delivery
  • Payment processors — your payment details are handled by our payment gateway provider under their own PCI-compliant security standards
  • Website hosting and analytics — our hosting provider and analytics tools process browsing data as part of running the site
  • Legal authorities — if we are required to disclose information by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our customers or staff

Any third party that handles your data on our behalf is required to treat it with the same level of care and confidentiality that we do.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small text files stored in your browser — to make the site work properly and to help us understand how it is being used.

Essential cookies

These are needed for basic functionality: keeping items in your cart, remembering that you are logged in, and processing your order. The site cannot function properly without them.

Analytics cookies

We use tools like Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns and user behaviour in aggregate. This data does not identify you personally.

Preference cookies

These remember choices you have made on the site, such as your preferred currency or recently viewed products.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect how parts of the site work. Most browsers also allow you to delete cookies that have already been set.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Our site runs over HTTPS, and payment transactions are handled through a secure, encrypted gateway.

That said, no system is completely immune to risk. If you have any reason to believe your account or personal information has been compromised, please contact us immediately at info@furniture360.co.za.

Your Rights Under POPIA

As a South African resident, the Protection of Personal Information Act gives you a number of rights in relation to your personal information. We respect these rights and will respond to any requests promptly.

Right to access

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it.

Right to correction

If any of the information we hold about you is inaccurate or out of date, you have the right to have it corrected.

Right to deletion

You can request that we delete your personal information, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain certain records.

Right to object

You can object to us processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes at any time. Once you do, we will stop.

Right to lodge a complaint

If you believe we have handled your personal information in a way that violates POPIA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg@justice.gov.za.

To exercise any of these rights, simply send us an email at info@furniture360.co.za. We may need to verify your identity before actioning the request.

Data Retention

We keep your personal information for as long as is necessary for the purpose it was collected:

  • Order records are retained for a minimum of 5 years to comply with South African tax and accounting laws
  • Marketing preferences and account data are kept for as long as you remain an active customer or subscriber
  • Enquiries and communication records are generally retained for 2 years

When information is no longer needed, we delete it securely or anonymise it so it can no longer be traced back to you.

Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to other websites — for example, delivery tracking portals or social media platforms. Once you follow a link off our site, this privacy policy no longer applies. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy from time to time as our practices change or as required by law. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of the page. For significant changes, we may also notify you by email.

Continued use of our website after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
